For the second part of the Barbie project we had to make a magazine cover based on our person. I decided to stick with the Alice in Wonderland theme and make the background filled with mushrooms. I thought it would be cute if the title of the magazine was "Curiousity" since thats the reason she ended up in Wonderland anyways. I made sure the featured articles were related to Alice in Wonderland. We have an Interview with Alice talking about her time in Wonderland. There had to be a bit about white rabbits, so I included a bit about the population.
Dr. House talking about heart health, because the Queen of Hearts played a big part as the villain in the story. There is controversy about the story being about drugs, because Alice eats a poisonous mushroom. So, I have The Doctor, from Doctor Who, talking about different types of mushrooms. Who can forget the Mad Hatter! I included him and his famous hats in an article. I had fun making this magazine cover and would totally do a project like this again. The class was assigned to transform a cartoon into a real person. I decided to transform Amanda Seyfried into Alice from Alice in Wonderland. I chose this because, I recently saw the movie and Amanda Seyfried is one of my favorite actresses. In modern society, I feel like people are judged no matter what and the phase "Dumb Blond" isn't very kind. I used colors from the Alice cartoon for Seyfried's hair, eyebrows, eyes, and lips. I even added the signature headband. I made her nose smaller using the Liquify tool and played with the blend tool to enhance the blue color in the eyes. For the final touch, I added some color to her cheeks to make them look rosy. Voila, Amanda Seyfried as Alice.
For the stop motion assignment I decided to do a flip book. It took way longer than I expected, but i am satisfied by the outcome. If I could have changed one thing, I would have added color, but I just didn't have time. With 64 frames the stop motion looks good, but I wish we had more time so I could have added some more frames. I feel like you can still see the story even though it's short, A s'more is being put together at a bonfire.
This week the class was assigned to take various items and make an object. I didn't know what to do at first and settled on making a hippo out of gold things. Unfortunately, after running out of gold things to include, I decided to trash the idea and I knew for a fact it would take way longer than three days. I aimed for something simpler and decided to make a peace sign out of candy. The fact that I was craving a Snickers bar at the time may have affected my decision, but that doesn't matter. I used a variety of chocolates and sweets to make my peace sign and every time I look at this piece I crave candy.
For the Edible Architecture I decided to do a hanging pepper home. I added a few windows, some vegetation, and of course a door. I was thinking this house could be the home of tiny garden fairies. I used the Warp tool for the door and used the Perspective tool for the windows. I used the Burn tool and the Dodge tool. It needed an extra something, so I added some moss to represent aging. The only things I would change, would be to make the windows a darker color and to add some depth to the door, because it looks flat. Luckily, I will get better with time.
